Course Information

Self defence can be practised by anyone, regardless of fitness levels or abilities. We aim to hold classes in a respectful, supportive and positive environment.
We hold either drop in classes or structured courses over a few hours or over a number of sessions, which can be anything from 2-10 classes. We adapt our sessions to the needs of those attending or if it is a specific group we are working with.

All classes use a variety of activities including presentation, discussion, group work, exercises (verbal and physical), demonstration and practice, roleplay, games, pair work, some stretching and fitness, and relaxation. In our sessions we encourage women to:

  • Relax and have fun

  • Identify their fears, strengths and boundaries

  • Learn to use fear and anger constructively

  • Learn and practice self defence techniques appropriate to their ability and fitness

  • Share experiences and gain confidence from each other’s lives

  • Discover their voices and practice standing up for themselves

  • Take their own space and feel more in control of it
